[Seguin, TX] Teatro De Artes is proud to announce our Cinco de Mayo 40th Anniversary ¡Viva Teatro! Recital! Mark your calendars for Friday, April 29, 2022 at Texas Lutheran University Jackson Auditorium and make plans to join us for a show you won’t soon forget. This performance is a milestone for our organization, and we are forever grateful to the Seguin and surrounding communities for celebrating with us for four decades. An achievement such as this would not have been possible without the families, instructors, board of directors, volunteers, the community, and sponsors. Through your love and support Teatro has been able to maintain, teach, and celebrate the Mexican American roots, customs, knowledge, and traditions through community education.
This year’s recital will feature Teatro’s Mariachi Juan Seguin which is under the musical direction of Co-Directors Rafael Alarcon Jr., Julián Arizola, and Carla Medina, along with instructor assistant Sophia Sauceda. Some of the selections will include: Cancion Mixteca, Mexico Lindo, and Viva Veracruz II. The Ballet Folklórico De La Rosa dancers are under the direction of Co-Artistic Directors Alberto “Beto” Rincón, Tiffany Rangel, Dr. Yvonne M. De La Rosa, and instructor assistant, Abraham J. Silva. Dancers will be performing traditional dances from the Mexican states and regions of: Norte; Tamaulipas; Colima; Jalisco; Puebla; Veracruz and a cuadro during the time period of the Mexican Revolution. All dancers will be accompanied by Mariachi Azteca de American under the musical direction of Gino Rivera and special guest acordeonista, Alejandro Luis Guerra. In addition, famous harpist Juan Cabrera will be included in the celebration for a special performance, as well as, Grupo Danza Guadalupana from Seguin, Texas. Also, a sight to be seen will be Charro Edmundo Rios III, from the Asociacion de Charros San Antonio, the United States oldest Charro Association, who will be on hand to share a longstanding tradition of Charros. We invite everyone to celebrate with us and witness a once-in-a-lifetime performance!
