Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin along with the National Endowment for the Arts is excited to bring Mariachi Girl to the City of Seguin and the surrounding communities! We invite you and your family to come and enjoy a beautifully written story filled with vibrant traditional mariachi music. Mariachi Girl musical play is about a ten-year-old Carmencita who dreams of being a female mariachi singer thus shattering the tradition of male mariachis only. Mariachi Girl is an uplifting bilingual family musical. This play will be held at Texas Lutheran University Jackson Auditorium (1000 Fleming Dr. Seguin, Tx) on Saturday January 29, 2022 7PM.
 
Directed by Jojanie Segura Moreno (with musical direction from Gino Rivera), Mariachi Girl is about ten-year-old Carmencita dreaming of being a mariachi singer and one day joining in performance with her father. However, her father clings to a long-held family tradition of male-only mariachis. When Carmencita’s teacher offers her a book about a female mariachi, everything changes for “Cita” as she sees a possibility of her dream becoming a reality. Can she celebrate her own heritage and expand her father’s view of the world? This play was written by Roxanne Schroeder-Arce, with music and lyrics by Héctor Martínez Morales.
 
This event coincides with Raices Musicales – Los Y Las Mariachis along with Teatro’s 37^th Annual Noche De Gala. Join us in celebrating the timeless art form of mariachi music and how it transitioned away from traditional gender roles into the mainstream culture.

New Braunfels St. Seguin, TX those tickets sales will begin on Monday, January 3, 2022 during normal hours of operation. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 11AM-6PM – Tuesday and Friday: 11AM-1PM. Ticket prices are the following: Students 1-18 years of age: $8 and Adults 19+: $10.
